Emergency Intubation of COVID-19 patient (video)

Our fantastic colleagues at Cabrini ED have made an excellent video showing the approach to the emergency intubation of a COVID-19 patient. The video is based on the Safe Airway Society COVID-19 airway management guidelines that are closely aligned with our Alfred ICU guidelines.

There are minor equipment/ process differences between Cabrini and the Alfred, but there is one key thing I would suggest doing differently: little of the 15L/min oxygen flow via the bag-valve-mask (BVM) comes out of the mask due to the oxygen inlet valve, unless the bag is squeezed (you can measure this if concerned). I would turn on the oxygen flowmeter when the BVM oxygen tubing is attached. Otherwise there is a risk of forgetting to turn the BVM oxygen on, even though the tubing is connected.
